Burnout for many sufferers is a word that sounds like emptiness, exhaustion, helplessness, and inner withdrawal. For me, it was all of those things and at the same time the turning point of my life. Thank you, dear burnout! Back to yourself and back into the light not only tells my own story but opens a space of experience for all those who find themselves in this state. It is a book for people who feel exhausted, who have lost their sense of purpose and who want to see this as an opportunity.
In a unique combination of personal experience, psychotherapeutic knowledge, and practical exercises, I invite readers to question their own life model. The book not only provides well-founded information about the development and course of burnout but also provides concrete assistance: suitable for everyday use, honest, without lecturing, but with a lot of compassion and a pinch of humour.
With poetic images, emotional directness and a writing style that gives courage and comfort in equal measure, this book addresses the reader's soul directly. It is not about simply functioning again, but about feeling again, understanding and choosing anew.

This book is aimed at people in or on the verge of burnout, relatives and friends of those affected, therapists and coaches who are looking for an empathetic insight into the inner world of client and readers of self-help literature with a penchant for literarily inspired testimonials of personal growth

Special Features are an authentic narrative voice with depth, wit, and poetry, well-founded and practical tips from psychotherapy, exercises, reflection impulses and small self-tests, and a fresh look at burnout as a signal for change, not as a destination
This book is direct, emotional, and encouraging, like a good friend in book form

Paul-Christian Goigner, born in 1972, is married, father of a son and lives in Neusiedl am See, Austria. He has worked as a key account manager for a large insurance company for 17 years and has been in sales for more than 30 years. As a result, he knows both the constantly growing pressure of our meritocracy, and on the other hand lots of life stories, sufferings, and fates of his customers and how difficult it is for many people to find personal happiness in life. In 2024, Paul-Christian Goigner himself was affected by severe exhaustion depression and used his love of writing as a means of self-therapy, among other things. On the recommendation of his therapist, this book was then created from the initially loose pages in the form of diary entries, therapy notes and self-reflections in order to give comfort to other sufferers, to encourage them and to show a way not only to master this crisis, but to see it positively and to use it as a starting point for a new, more conscious phase of life.
