Janice is a writer and an internationally multi awardwinning author and publisher (Magpie Publications) based in Tasmania. Janice is an expat Brit and a BBC trained national radio journalist, working almost exclusively for BBC Radio 4 for more than 10 years. Later in her BBC career, Janice also worked as a freelance producer for BBC Radio 5 Live. Janice made the transition from radio to print after moving to Australia with her husband Paul, and has contributed numerous reviews and articles to national magazines and regional newspapers over the years, including writing her own arts column, for a time. Janice is also one of the original founders of the Koonya Garlic Festival, Australia’s longest running garlic festival, responsible for media and the festival's cooking masterclasses, before going on to direct the festival programme. Janice's first book project was as co-writer for Tasmanian chef, Eloise Emmett's book, 'The Real Food for Kids Cookbook'. This was followed by her first solo cookbook project called Garlic Feast: delicious garlic-inspired recipes for the quintessential garlic lover that sprang from the grassroots of the Koonya Garlic Festival and that went on to win international acclaim. Soon after came Janice's third book project: Tomato: know, sow, grow, feast, a gardening and cookbook co-authored with respected horticultural writer and author Penny Woodward and celebrity gardener Karen Sutherland. Tomato won Gold at the independent Publisher Awards in New York in the Home and Garden Category, and a Joint Laurel for Best Gardening Book at the Australian Horticultural Industry Media Awards in 2020. The first edition of Janice's fourth book published in 2021, Winter Wild: a feast of dark delights, celebrating Tasmania's coolest season, was also an internationally multi award-winning book, winning Gold for Best Coffee Table Book and Bronze for Best Cookbook at the Independent Publisher Awards in New York in 2022, in addition to three 'Best in the World' categories at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards the same year. Janice's most recent book project is the 2nd revised and expanded edition of Janice's 'Best Selling' book, Winter Wild, published in 2025. She also has two new book projects in the offing. In addition to writing and publishing Winter Wild: a feast of dark delights 2nd Revised Edition, Janice was the Artistic Director for the book's design and shot, styled and edited more than a third of the photographic images in the book. Though a passionate foodie and creative, community is also important to Janice. Indeed, it is the grassroots of community that often inspires her creative projects. https://www.janicesutton.com; https://instagram.com/feastwithjanicesutton
