Including background on the development of Morgan sports cars, an inside view of the range of traditional steel-chassis Morgan sports cars.
Morgan sports cars are some of the most recognisable traditional sports cars. The Morgan 4/4, first produced in 1936, is the longest-running production vehicle in the world. However, behind the familiar waterfall cowl, there are a host of sometimes confusing differences in the Morgan models that make choosing a Morgan more complex than it may seem. In this book, Morgan expert David Wellings provides a guide to the traditional ladder-chassis ‘long-door’ Morgans that were produced between 1997 and 2020. The book covers all the models produced during that period, including the 4/4, Plus 4, Plus 8 and the Roadster. As this book shows, the differences between the cars extend beyond the different engine types and sizes to include subtle changes to screen and side-screen shapes as well as hood and dashboard variations.

Including background on the development of Morgan sports cars and reflections and insights on the ownership experience, this book provides a concise guide to the multiple variations and invisible intricacies which are an intrinsic part of the steel-chassis Morgans.

David Wellings has been a British sports car enthusiast since 1972, when he bought an MG Midget. In 2003, David joined the Morgan Sports Car Club with a view to switching loyalties, and this led to David buying his first Morgan, a Roadster, in August 2008. He became Concours Secretary in 2010, writing a monthly article in Miscellany, the magazine of the Morgan Sports Car Club, and although he relinquished the concours role in 2017, his monthly column in the magazine has continued. In 2013. David purchased his second Morgan, a Plus 4, and finally in 2016 placed an order for a new Plus 4. which he watched being assembled at the factory. He is the author of a previous book on Morgan cars.
