The Allotment Diaries is a story of family and food, of the turning of the seasons and of our relationship to the earth. Thom tended to a plot in an allotment next to his parents for years, and after his father's death he found himself writing of the soil and the land, and this is the result - a meditation on what it means to live a good life, to have a good death, a month-by-month portrait of the soil we all have in common.

Thom Eagle is an award-winning writer and chef. His first book First, Catch: Study of a Spring Meal was awarded Best Debut Food Book by Fortnum & Mason in 2019, nominated for an Andre Simon, and named one of the best food books of the year by The Times and the BBC Food Programme. He is currently based in Margate where he is chef at the highly acclaimed Bottega Caruso and where he teaches classes on pickling, fermenting, curing and foraging.
