Raymond Kinman is a self-taught woodcarver and former Disney artist whose hand-carved signs and sculptures appear in iconic attractions like Indiana Jones Adventure and Splash Mountain. Originally a bass-playing musician from Lake Tahoe, Ray found his path when he borrowed $30 from his father, bought two carving tools, and took a chance on his first commissioned wood carved sign. That leap launched a 40-year career working with Walt Disney Imagineering, shaping the look of Disney parks worldwide. Now based in Northern California, he teaches carving retreats, sharing his craft with others—and still gigs on bass, nearly five decades later.
