Sigi Schmid is recognised as one of the most successful US college coaches of all time, accumulating an 81 per cent winning record in 19 seasons at UCLA. His coaching experience also includes 13 years as a coach for the US Soccer Federation at various levels, including assistant coach on the 1994 US World Cup team. As an under-20s head coach, he led the 2005 squad to 11th place at the World Youth Championship in Holland, including a group win over eventual world champions Argentina.
