To help you find the day-ticket waters, maps are also included. Much of the fishing in Yorkshire is controlled by angling clubs and details of 65 are listed. Some are big, some small, some exclusive and some not. With visitors to the area in mind, the guide includes a section on fishing tackle shops: where to find them, when they're open, the tackle and bait they stock and, of course, the club season books and temporary membership tickets that they sell.
Laurence Tetley was born in the Yorkshire Dales and has fished extensively throughout Yorkshire, the Lake District and Cumbria for most of his life. Recently he wrote The Yorkshire Dales Anglers' Guide and he has now used his extensive knowledge of the area to produce this sister publication. He knows the sport intimately and has also fished in distant waters. During a spell in the Merchant Navy he cast a line as far afield as Australia, South Africa and Canada. He has also lived in Southampton where, during a period as Principal Lecturer at the Institute of Higher Education, he found time to write The Central Southern Angling Guide. He is now retired and lives once again in the Yorkshire Dales.
