The book also takes a close look at the impact of mega-sporting events in the Californian story, providing historical context for the LA 2028 Olympic Games and tracing the full arc of the ‘Californization’ of modern sports.

Joel S. Franks is an emeritus professor at San José State University, US, where he taught Asian American, Ethnic, and American Studies. He is a leading authority on Asian American and Pacific Islander sport history, and is the author of nine books.
