Throughout history, women have often been described as incomplete and inadequate. They are said to lack sufficient intelligence and resilience, being unable to manage crises or control their emotions, and therefore deemed unqualified in societal matters. While women's personal characteristics are disparaged in matters outside the home, they seem to magically transform when it comes to motherhood. Women, now responsible for giving birth to and raising children, ensuring the continuation of the family line, and providing a peaceful home for family members, are sanctified and expected to be perfect in this role. This book offers a modest yet original lens on the transformation of motherhood from its historical phases to its modern form, its experiences across different cultures, and the social effects of the sacred motherhood approach. Additionally, it seeks to answer questions such as: What does it mean for women to be mothers of children with disabilities? How do experiences like stepmotherhood, poverty, and traumatic events such as suicide shape the construction of motherhood? How is motherhood portrayed on social media, and what consequences do these portrayals have on women's lives?
