In this volume, Stanley E. Porter reflects upon the life and work of distinguished scholar James Hope Moulton. Most esteemed for his expansive reference work, A Grammar of New Testament Greek, Moulton also made great contributions to the study of Zoroastrianism, Hellenistic Greek and Greek papyri more generally.

Porter pays tribute to Moulton through three main sections exploring his life, his work, and his legacy. He investigates Moulton's life, made full through his scholarly work and dedication to helping the Church community, though blighted by tragedy with the death of his wife in 1915 and that of his son just two years later in the trenches of the First World War. Porter examines Moulton's famous Greek grammar and investigates the contributions he made to the wider study of the New Testament and philology, as well as his deep interest in Zoroastrianism and other areas of Biblical studies and Religion. He finishes with an assessment of the legacy left by Moulton's work on New Testament Greek and the lasting influence it has had on Greek language study.

Stanley E. Porter is Principal, Dean and Professor of New Testament at McMaster Divinity College, Canada.
