Although silk manufacturing declined, other industries developed which have left their mark, including the bread maker Hovis. Ian Tatlock is a retired secondary school teacher. He grew up in north Manchester and taught in east London for the first 12 years of his career before moving back north. He has lived in Macclesfield for the last 35 years.
