Finally, a book on newborn feeding that focuses on the what and how for all families.
With straightforward advice and evidence-based reasoning, lactation consultant Victoria Facelli introduces her modern approach to newborn nutrition. In Feed the Baby, both bottle and breast are presented as equally valuable tools. She provides the science behind the methods, explaining how milks are made and how a newborn's sucking and swallowing skills develop. She offers nursing positions and paced bottle-feeding techniques for parents and partners to use from those critical hours after birth, to the early weeks and months, to a year. Informative illustrations and QR codes that link to more than 50 short video demonstrations make it easy to understand and implement whatever protocol works best for you and yours. With detailed information on hunger cues, sleep, pumping, milk supply, and much-needed support for challenging moments, Facelli shows us what families—and babies—of all backgrounds need to thrive.
