The almost legendary palace of Chatsworth has been presided over by the same family for more than 450 years. Here, Deborah Dowager Duchess of Devonshire tells the story of the estate that surrounds it. Many within a couple of miles of the house were inspired by the imagination of one of the dukes. It is these that the Duchess describes.
Deborah, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire is the youngest of the seven children of the second Baron Redesdale and sister of the writers Nancy and Jessica Mitford and Diana Mosley. The Duke and Duchess lived at Chatsworth from 1950 on and lovingly restored the house and gardens. Bridget Flemming was born on the Chatsworth estate and bases much of her work around that unique place. She is a Licentiate of the British Institute of Professional Photography and of the Master Photographers' Association.
