My sewing journey began as a child making Barbie clothes on my Holly Hobbie sewing machine. I received more formal training in 8th grade Home Economics, where I learned to read commercial home sewing pattern instructions. I hadn't sewn for years, but in 2005 after becoming a stay at home mom, I became a serial hobbyist and fell right back into sewing. For the last 15 years, I've been sharing my sewing adventures and my 99% home sewn wardrobe on my blog: Erica Bunker DIY Style! (www.ericabunker.com). During my sewing career, I've had work published in Vogue Patterns Magazine and Threads Magazine, I've been featured in many sewing and craft publications and interviewed on several popular podcasts. I've also had many opportunities to partner with some amazing sewing brands. My goal as a member of the online sewing community has always been to empower home sewers to look beyond outdated commercial pattern instructions, how to select fine fabrics and teach the fundamentals of creating a luxurious and stylish home-sewn wardrobe.
