Chinese shadows and personal sorrows asserts the exceptional association between tradition and contemporaneity that exists today in China. This artwork shows particularly the juxtaposition of the ancestral rural way of life and the ultra-technical urban way of life. It unveils a China bursting with both life and loneliness: from the remote villages of the Miao minority to Shanghai's Pudong business district, to arts centres and Buddhist monasteries.
Faithful to the uniqueness of his photographic style, Clive Kodrii ventures into unexplored areas, highlighted by a precise and limpid look. He creates fleeting images and persistent traces of an unsuspected elsewhere, where the inherent beauty of delicately photographed elements peacefully settles.
