The Netherlands Antilles comprises the three main islands of Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire. They are
major tourist destinations, especially popular with divers. This will be the first ever
comprehensive field guide dedicated to the birds of the region.
A comprehensive field guide covering the birds of the Dutch Caribbean.

Located in the southern Caribbean off the coast of Venezuela, the constituent countries of Aruba and Curaçao and the special municipality of Bonaire along with some smaller islands are popular tourist destinations. They are also home to a fine selection of Caribbean specialities, such as Brown-throated Parakeet, Venezuelan Troupial, Roseate Spoonbill and White-tailed Nightjar, while migrant hotspots on the islands can be exceptional.

This field guide is designed to help you identify the many wonderful birds that live in this part of the western Lesser Antilles. It features 71 colour plates, with facing text describing key identification features, voice, habitat, behaviour and status of every species known to occur on the islands.

This compact yet comprehensive guide is an important addition to the suitcase for any visiting wildlife traveller or birder on these beautiful islands.

Bart de Boer is a Dutch ornithologist. He previously wrote a photographic guide to the birds of the Netherlands Antilles. Eric Newton is an ornithologist based on Curaçao. Robin Restall (1937–2023) was an author and illustrator. He became a Research Associate at the Phelp Ornithological Collection in Caracas, Venezuela, where he conceived and painted the art for his masterpiece, the two-volume Birds of Northern South America, which featured his illustrations of 2,300 species. It went on to provide the basis for several other field guides, including this one.
