Weapons for worldwide warfare have been produced here too - be they tanks or trucks, bombs or jet fighters - and industry has developed accordingly. Ships laden with sailors, troops and precious cargo have docked here, and the city's railway station has bade farewell to many soldiers and sailors en route to war.
