Using various characters this video illustrates the highway code. The programme is in two parts: Part one deals with the general rules of the Code, and the interaction between road-users. Part two is a quiz which tests the viewer on their knowledge of the Code.
The video features ten characters who are used to illustrate various situations: grandfather, grandmother, their ten year old grandson, a motorcyclist, a young man in his early 20s, a young girl, a fairground youth, and a family consisting of father, mother and daughter, plus various other pedestrians and road users. In its outline form the video is constructed to give added interest by switching from reallife situations on the road to surreal images of the fairground. The programme is in two parts: Part one deals with the general rules of the Code, and the interaction between road-users. It is divided into six chapters: Introduction; The Pavement; On the Road; junctions; Out of Town - motorway and country; and In the dark. Part two is a quiz which tests the viewer on their knowledge of the Code. The viewer will hear questions, choose from a list of options and see video clips. A clock on the screen will count down the time to when the answer is revealed, and a specific number of points will be awarded for each question.
