In 2014 actress Julia Anastasopoulos and director husband Ari Kruger decided to combine their skills and passion for comedy to develop a project outside of their commercial work. Subsequently, SuzelleDIY was born and has not only grown into a full-scale brand and business, but their beloved character, Suzelle, has found her way into the hearts of thousands of South Africans and people living all over the world. SuzelleDIY has won multiple awards including two Loeries, the Superbalist 100 and best People and Blogs channel at the YouTube Awards 2016. In 2018 Suzelle saw three SAFTA nominations, winning Best Editing for a TV Comedy. The couple have since launched their own creative production company called Sketchbook Studios which is based in Woodstock. The team have launched a successful line of merchandise including a “Do It Yourself Diary” which sold over 5000 copies as well as their bestselling DIY book SuzelleDIY the Book which has sold over 15 000 copies to date. Suzelle’s social media following has grown exponentially over the years, helping to organically grow the brand, drive product sales and align with other social entrepreneurs, celebrities and many leading South African brands. Their YouTube channel has over 135 000 subscribers and over 26 million collective video views, with 100 0000 Instagram followers and 135 000 Facebook followers. The team now brings you the Recipes, another passion project lovingly put together by the Sketchbook family. This project has been a long time in the making and the team can’t wait to finally share the book with the world!.
