The `Bear' is the affectionate name I gave to my trusty sheepskin coat that became an integral part of my protective wear against the harsh British winters for over a quarter of a century, and throughout the vast duration of this second book.
Worn to a match whenever the weather forecast predicted a 5 Degrees Fahrenheit or less indication on the thermometer it shielded me from the coldest days and nights.
But nothing lasts forever and sadly the time came when it was no longer fit for purpose, and the old `Bear' deteriorated into nothing much more than a tattered, and torn carcass that was frayed around the edges.
So on Bonfire Night 2012 is was decided to send it to the bear pit in the sky. Nailed to a ten foot high wooden cross it was cremated alongside our village pool, with raised glasses of champagne toasting its loyal service.
