Thousands of children in Britain are not growing and developing as they should because they are not consuming enough calories. They are suffering from a feeding disorder called "Non-Organic Failure to Thrive". For many of them, there is no medical explanation for their condition and therefore no medical cure. The condition is not widely recognized and little help and advice exists for either families or professionals. This pack, containing a video and booklet, provides an introduction to the disorder. It shows how to identify the condition and explores reasons why feeding difficulties may develop. Working practices are detailed, suggestions for developing professional skills are discussed and the legal background is covered. It includes two family case studies. The booklet shows how to identify the condition and explores reasons why feeding difficulties may develop. Suggestions for developing professional skills are discussed.
