A fascinating tour of the pub scenes in Seaford and Newhaven, charting the towns' taverns, alehouses and watering holes, from past centuries to more recent times.
Half-way between Eastbourne and Brighton, the quiet Sussex town of Seaford and the neighbouring ferry port of Newhaven boast a wealth of taverns, inns, alehouses, and public houses. Most of the older drinking establishments that have survived have stories to tell; frequently quirky or surprising, always interesting and often with nautical links, given their seafaring and military links over the centuries. Local author, Vicky Cosstick takes the reader on a fascinating tour around some of the oldest and most notorious watering holes in Seaford, Newhaven and the surrounding villages, exploring their histories and hidden secrets and telling of the many characters that have frequented or run their public houses.
