A business memoir with warmth, insight, and humor. This is more "The Heart of the Deal," than "The Art of the Deal".
Little Chef: The Heart of the Deal provides an intimate, fascinating and at times hilarious view into the life and mind of Lawrence Wosskow, one of Britain's top entrepreneurs. Charting Wosskow's rise as a pioneer in the catering and shopping mall industries, Little Chef gives a frank, behind-the-scenes account of many of the most audacious deals done in the UK restaurant world, including high-profile attempts to rescue the much-loved Little Chef chain, tragically scuppered by Wosskow's near-fatal heart attack. Little Chef is not just for business entrepreneurs; it is also a story for anyone who has struggled to make the most of talents and opportunities, with plenty of life lessons on offer along the way.

Lawrence Wosskow rose from humble beginnings in Sheffield to become a multi-million-pound entrepreneur, taking ownership of a number of high-profile UK companies, including Out of Town Restaurants Group, the UK's largest shopping center caterer, a chain of surf/outdoor retail stores; and the ice cream brands Loseley and Bradwell's. In 2005, he bought Little Chef, a troubled chain of 230 roadside restaurants, but was forced to retire due to ill health before he could revive the company. However, more recently, he began investing his wealth in UK commercial properties, most notably changing the face of Harrogate's city center. Lawrence has been at the coalface of UK retail for more than 30 years, bringing his personal vision and energy to the business of changing how Britons eat, shop and enjoy themselves. His frank and entertaining style makes this a compelling read.
