Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, south-west London, is a lifestyle destination in an idyllic riverside setting, selling a wide variety of plants and beautifully crafted wares for the home and garden, and offering seasonal food made with quality ingredients. Petersham is a family-run business, reflecting the beliefs and values of Francesco and Gael Boglione and their children, Lara, Anna, Harry and Ruby; in particular, their passion for organic gardening, culinary excellence and ethical sourcing. Now, as the family sets out on a new venture with the opening of Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden, they reflect on their story so far, and share some of their inspirations and favourite recipes in this delightful book. Gael and Francesco start by recalling the beginnings of the business, recounting their 20 years in Richmond and providing insight into how they have always tried to run Petersham as an extension of the adjoining family home. The main part of the book is arranged into four seasonal chapters, each exploring what happens at the nursery at that time of year, an aspect of the Petersham philosophy, and the particular interests of the Boglione children and the contributions that they have made to the family business. A carefully chosen selection of recipes concludes each season. With stunning photographs throughout by Andrew Montgomery, as well as images from the family's archive, Petersham Nurseries is both the captivating story of a special, tranquil place and, in sharing the Bogliones' enthusiasm for living and eating well, an inspirational guide to appreciating nature, beauty and simplicity. SELLING POINTS: • The first book devoted to Petersham Nurseries, a beautiful destination on the outskirts of London, renowned for the quality of its plants and wares and its award-winning food • A personal appreciation by Petersham's owners, who share insights into their values and passions, and select their favourite recipes • Features specially commissioned photography throughout, as well as snapshots from family albums 400 Illustrations

The Boglione family - Francesco and Gael, and their children Lara, Anna, Harry and Ruby - have run Petersham Nurseries since 2002. They moved to Richmond in 1997 and spent several years restoring the 17th-century Petersham House. Francesco and Gael bought the adjoining garden centre in 2000, taking over its running a couple of years later, when the previous owners retired. Today the Boglione children are all involved in the business: Lara is managing director and has been the creative force behind bringing Petersham Nurseries to Covent Garden; Anna runs a theatre company based at the nurseries; Harry supplies Petersham and other London restaurants with produce from his organic farm in Devon; and Ruby is part of the buying team. Andrew Montgomery is an award-winning photographer whose work has appeared in such publications as Vanity Fair, House & Garden, Country Living, Gardens Illustrated and the New York Times. He has collaborated on books with the designers Jasper Conran and Emma Bridgewater.
