Tambour embroidery and beading is the art of applying beads and sequins to cloth using a tambour hook. The use of a tambour hook dates from the 18th century and has been used ever since to create an array of spectacular garments including gowns, wedding dresses and costumes. The Art of Tambour Beading and Embroidery is aimed at those interested in fashion and textiles, traditional embroidery techniques and costume design. The book covers the history, tools and materials and techniques used in tambour embroidery. The reader is guided through the process of creating ten projects varying in complexity.
