Bill Karelis graduated from Harvard in 1969 with High Honors. He spent some years in business, at the same as studying meditation with great masters from Tibet. He was asked by his teachers to begin to present meditation in 1977. By the mid-1990's he was traveling the world to do so, including in over 100 prisons, at the US Air Force Academy, in the psychology and art departments of many universities, churches of differing denominations, and bookstores, as well as on national TV. He founded the Shambhala Prison Community in 1996; initiated the Ch?gyam Trungpa Rinpoche Library project in 2007 to create 108 meditation-oriented library collections internationally; saw the publication of his first book, Living Life Fully, in 2013; and opened A Place to Sit, a meditation center in Boulder, Colorado in 2014.
