Die erste wissenschaftliche Biografie zur bürgerlichen Politikerin Katharina von Kardorff-Oheimb (1879–1962)
Katharina von Kardorff-Oheimb, member of the German Reichstag 1920-1924, was a prominent figure of the Weimar Republic. Her political salon was frequented by high-ranking politicians from several parties. This first biography of Kardorff-Oheimb, who is hardly known nowadays, provides multiple perspectives on her political practices during the 1920s: as a party member and parliamentarian, as a political publicist, and in the context of the German women's movement. The study highlights the challenges posed by her relationship to her husband Siegfried von Kardorff, a fellow party member, and explores the interdependencies between her bourgeois lifestyle as a member of Berlin's upper-class and her political engagement. The original biographical approach offers new insights into the cultural history of politics and women's and gender history.
