Born in 1827, Johanna Spyri grew up in Hirzel, a village in the canton of Zurich. Best known for her classic tale Heidi, Spyri published a total of 48 stories. She died in 1901.

Maja Dusiková was born in Piestany in Slovakia. Maja Dusiková studied art in Bratislava and graduated in 1973 as a graphic designer and book illustrator. Maja Dusiková has successfully participated in exhibitions all over the world and has illustrated over 40 children’s books. Since 1982 she has lived with her family in Florence.
