In this original Paladin video, Datu Kelly Worden teaches you the easy way to use joint locks in a street situation: the destroy, trap, lock (DTL) system. With the DTL system, rather than trying to apply a joint lock directly, you first intercept and destroy your opponent's attacking limb (as well as any other handy body parts). Next you trap the limb to immobilize your attacker while you use punches, kicks, elbows and knees to destroy something else. Finally, once your attacker is sufficiently "softened up, " you apply a joint lock to subdue him, throw him or finish the destructive process by breaking the joint.
