Home design author Jim Toplin takes the reader through the complete processs for designing and constructing built-in units, from window seats, benches and couches to bookcases, cupboards and cabinets.
Built-in furniture offers many advantages over freestanding furniture: less expensive to build; built to suit your existing interior style; maximize the available space - the ultimate design solution. In this work, home design author Jim Toplin takes the reader through the complete processs for designing and constructing built-in units, from window seats, benches and couches to bookcases, cupboards and cabinets. He draws from historical precedents such as colonial-style storage cupboards, as well as from contemporary requirements such as a family-room audio-visual centre. He also shows readers how to harmonize permanent feature into their home environments.
