It assists child care professionals to externalise the child's anxiety making it more possible for the child to make changes with the help and support of their family members and others. The resource consists of: a therapeutic story that externalises anxiety; worksheets to assist the therapist to guide the child through the process of externalising the anxiety; and a board game which can assist with both assessment and treatment. This can be played either by the worker and child, or by family members.

The author is a Systemic Psychotherapist (Family Therapist) and Social Worker who has worked in a range of mental health and child care settings for twenty years, most recently the Family Trauma Centre in Belfast and Child and Adolescent Mental Health teams in Derbyshire and Leicester. She has also lectured on Family Therapy training programmes and most recently undertaken assignment marking for one such programme. She is married with two young children and temporarily resident in Sweden, due to return to the U.K. in 2013.
