An update and redesign, now with full-color photography throughout. Most hiking guides are written by backpackers who occasionally day hike. But most people are day hikers who occasionally backpack! Sasquatch Books created this series just for them (over 75,000 copies sold in the Day Hike! series).
Mount Rainier has lots of trails. Here are 51 hikes with the best views and destinations that can be done in a day. A guide written just for people who want to spend their days in the mountains and their nights back at home. Whether you're a newbie hiker or a veteran with hundreds of miles on your boots. Northwest outdoors expert and Seattle Times columnist Ron Judd reviews more than 50 of the best day hike trails in the Mount Rainier National Park, from Paradise and Sunrise to the lower foothills. Day Hike! Mount Rainier describes classic routes--from easy to moderate to extreme--giving hikers the choices they want. Entertaining, accurate, and contemporary writing make this guide the one to keep near the water bottles.

RON C. JUDD, a longtime popular columnist for The Seattle Times, is the author of a broad range of nonfiction books, from works of humor to outdoor guides. One of the few (it seems) surviving natives of Washington state, he has worked as a journalist for 25 years, along the way becoming one of the world's foremost authorities on the uses (and abuses) of big blue tarps. The author lives in Bellingham, WA.
