Up-to-date coverage of Europe's most scenic and unspoiled region. You’ll find the very best of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, from city sightseeing to wilderness adventures, fjord cruises, and great small towns.

Loaded with detailed maps and smart tips that help you plan your trip more easily, our guide features accommodations, attractions and restaurants for every taste and budget. We’ll take you to Renaissance castles and Viking ruins; as well as show you where to enjoy the best outdoor activities from dogsledding and reindeer safaris to fishing and hiking in the Land of the Midnight Sun.

Darwin Porter and Danforth Prince (chapters 1–7 and 12–21) have produced numerous titles for Frommer’s. Porter wrote the first ever Frommer’s guide to Scandinavia, and has been covering the destination ever since. He is also the coauthor of Frommer’s Norway, Frommer’s Denmark, and Frommer’s Sweden. Prince, formerly of the Paris bureau of The New York Times, has been a frequent traveler and researcher to Scandinavia since 1980. His byline has appeared on four different guides to the Scandinavian countries, including Finland.

Born in New York City and raised in Westchester County, Roger Norum (chapters 1, 8–11, and 21 [www.rogernorum.com]) has studied literature and taught creative writing in Norway. He writes and photographs features on travel and food for a number of European magazines, including Departures, Wanderlust, and Olive. In 2010, he was awarded the silver prize for Travel Writer of the Year by the British Guild of Travel Writers. Roger currently divides his time between Oxford, England, and Kathmandu, Nepal, where he is finishing up research for his doctoral degree in social anthropology
