When Monique took her first steps on the Camino Frances, the ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, in April 2007, she had no idea what was awaiting her, and that was probably a good thing. After years of traveling and walking around the world, Monique spent a decade in Mali, where her experiences, wanderlust, and love for the country and its people resulted in the creation of Papillon Reizen travel agency. During the worldwide crisis in 2020 she moved back to Europe to start a new phase in her life, and a new company, Papillon Fairtrade.
