Tom Downs is the author of Walking San Francisco (Wilderness Press) and an award-winning edition of Lonely Planet’s New Orleans, along with many other books and articles having to do with cityscapes, booze, juke joints, and history. His photographs have been published in National Geographic Traveler, the New York Times, and on the cover of The Rough Guide to Gospel Music.
