Carmarthenshire is one of the most beautiful counties in Britain, yet is often overlooked by the tourist racing towards the beaches of Pembrokeshire. It is essentially a rural county with the majority of the population living in villages and smaller communities. There is ample evidence of pre Roman settlement in the county and many villages have their origins in the Dark Ages, before written documentation. The aim of this book is to give a guide to the county's smaller communities, with a brief description, a little history and some stories of village characters.
Geoffrey Davies was born and educated in South Wales before taking a degree in History and Philosophy at St David's Lampeter. After 35 years in the investment world, in England, he settled in Carmarthenshire where he has taken a keen interest in the county, its history and the undiscovered gems among its villages.
