The law has the task of solving the problems which arise in the society to which it applies. Thus it has certain regulatory functions which can undergo changes consistent with the changes in society. In this work, Anja Celina Linker does a detailed comparison of the law of inheritance in Germany and in France, giving a description of the different functions the law has in both countries. She examines the social and economic changes that have occurred in these countries since 1900 and their consequences for the law of inheritance, and gives suggestions as to how these changes can be incorporated into the German law of inheritance.
