Global Geopolitical Atlas: How Great Power Competition Unfolds Across States And Quasi-States is a comprehensive, authoritative survey of twenty-first century geopolitics. Going beyond traditional state-centrism and re-orienting both states and quasi-states as units of analysis, this book presents the emerging trends in contemporary great power competition. This book challenges the orthodox approach of international relations scholarship in defining sovereign states as a central unit of analysis. Advancing a "post-sovereign lens", this book re-imagines a geopolitical map that encompasses different types of states and quasi-states (adopting small states, associated states, contested states, and territorial autonomies as units of analysis) and examines great power competition from a holistic perspective (studying states and quasi-states as both objects and subjects of great power competition). By doing so, this book transcends the traditional "great power-small state" framework in geopolitical studies and pursues a new research agenda of investigating the complex interaction of states and quasi-states. It guides readers to understand and interpret the twenty-first century global geopolitical map through an innovative, post-sovereign approach. This book will be an essential reference for international relations scholars and students around the world. It will also appeal to global policy makers and practitioners who are observing the dynamics of contemporary great power competition.
