Our Sisters highlights the persecution of
Christian women forced into marriage in Pakistan and how you can help make a
difference.
If you’re
a carefree teenager, the last thing you expect is to be forced to marry a
stranger and change your religion. But if you are a Christian girl living in
Pakistan, this could happen to you.
A prejudice against
Christians, tight Pakistani blasphemy laws and a lack of justice for the poor
results in abductions, forced marriages, alleged conversions to Islam and abuse
and suffering for young women today.
Through
extensive research and a sensitive interviewing style, Anna Townsend shares
both the stories of activists who are trying to help and the women and
their families who are affected. Anna also highlights the plight of western
women at risk of being sent to Pakistan for marriage and encourages the church
to be more alert to the issue in their local community.
Our
Sisters helps you
to learn more about the plight of these women, inspires you to pray with
compassion, challenges you to champion the cause to help end forced marriage
and empowers you to work for justice so others can flourish.
