The medicalization of intensive care anesthesia and technological advances have improved the quality of patient care. However, anesthesia remains a critical specialty and a care environment exposed to foreseeable and unforeseeable accidents. This could lead to the anesthesiologist's medical responsibility being engaged, and to criminal, civil, administrative and disciplinary proceedings. This study takes stock of various cases involving the responsibility of the anesthesiologist. Preventing risks in anaesthesia and intensive care requires a pre-operative assessment adapted to the field and the proposed procedure, clear information for the patient, and compliance with current recommendations and scientific data.
Fethi Jebali, Associate Professor of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine in Monastir, with a degree in health science education and medical simulation.
