This work aims to trace the evolution of sentences worldwide, as well as the places where they are carried out, culminating in today's prisons. The Brazilian Bill 2.825/2003 will be studied, which aims to allow the outsourcing of activities ancillary to penal execution, as an alternative to improving the terrible conditions in Brazilian prisons.
