The object of the study is the procedural rules of excluding illegal evidence in China. This book is innovative in that it examines the nature, function, subject matter, and litigation structure of procedural trials, and the relationship between procedural and substantive procedures. Moreover, the book compares various countries' procedure of excluding illegal evidence and examines the initiation, trial, rules of evidence, and appeals of the procedure of excluding illegal evidence in China.

Gao Yong is an associate professor of Law at Beijing International Studies University. Her research focuses on procedural law, evidence law, and the judicial system. She has authored several books, including The Procedure of Excluding Illegal Evidence, A Comparative Study of Chinese and American Criminal Proceedings, Proof Mechanism of Illegal Evidence Exclusion, and The Rise and Fall of the Exclusionary Rule in the United States. She is a member of the Chinese Society of Conduct Law, the Chinese Society of International Law, the Chinese Law Society, the Translators Association of China, and the Chinese Comparative Law Research Association.
