Disability Discrimination: Law and Practice provides analysis of how the amended Disability Discrimination Act (1995) legislation operates in practice. This work includes coverage of different implementation of the Act in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as in England or across the UK.

Brian Doyle is a Regional Chairman of the Employment Tribunals and is one of the country's leading authorities on disability discrimination law. He is also a contributor to Jordans Employment Law Service.

This new edition includes coverage of recent major changes in disability discrimination law, including:; Meaning of disability -- Disability Discrimination (Blind and Partially Sighted Persons) Regulations 2003 and the appellate decisions in Woodrup v London Borough of Southwark and Kirton v Tetrosyl Ltd.; Employment -- Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Amendment) Regulations 2003 and Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Pensions) Regulations 2003 extend the Act to embrace office-holders, partnerships, barristers and advocates, work experience, qualifications bodies and occupational pensions. The original exemptions for small business have been swept away. There are two new codes of practice which are integrated into the discussion of these reforms, together with other relevant statutory instruments and new case-law.; Goods, services and premises -- this part of the Act came fully into force in October 2004 and the account of this area has been brought fully up to date.; Education -- the first judicial decisions on the new provisions on disability discrimination in education have been handed down and are included in this edition.; Transport -- the duty to make reasonable adjustments has recently been considered by the Court of Appeal in Roads v Central Trains Ltd and Ross v Ryanair Ltd, as well as the recent legislation on guide dogs.; Disability Discrimination Bill 2005 -- the Bill will make important changes to the meaning of disability and will make further amendments to the Act relating to employment, goods and services, rail vehicles and disabled parking. Proposals for a Commission for Equality and Human Rights have also been recently published. All these developments are anticipated at appropriate points.
