'Blackstone's Civil Practice 2004' provides authoritative coverage and expert analysis of the process of civil litigation in the county courts and in the High Court. It combines a unique narrative commentary with the full text of Civil Procedure Rules, Practice Directions, Pre-Action Protocols and Practice Guides.
Blackstone's Civil Practice provides authoritative expert description and analysis of the process of civil litigation in the county courts and in the High Court. Blackstone's Civil Practice 2004 edition will be up to date to mid December 2003. It will deal with all relevant cases newly reported since the 2003 edition. There has been a steady flow of important cases interpreting the new Civil Procedure Rules since they came into force. The following cases listed have been particularly significant, but all areas of civil practice have been affected: - Bloomsbury Publishing Group Ltd versus News Group Newspapers Ltd on issuing claims against persons unknown - Cranfield versus Bridgegrove Ltd on service - Motorola Credit Corporation versus Uzan (No 2) on worldwide freezing injunctions - Jones versus University of Warwick on covert videos - Wilson versus First County Trust (No 2) on Human Rights. Blackstone's Civil Practice 2004 will provide the texts of all changes to the Civil Procedure Rules and practice directions, fees orders and relevant statutes, together with the text of the latest edition of the Patents Court Guide.
Uniquely, Blackstone's Civil Practice sets out the law on civil procedure in a chapter by chapter narrative which follow the course of proceedings from pre-action protocols to enforcement of judgments. These chapters are supported by clearly laid out appendices containing a scrupulously edited complete text of the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Directions, linked back to the commentary, as well as selected legislation relating to civil procedure and jurisdiction. The treatment of the litigation process in general is followed by 17 chapters on important topics of civil law encountered particularly in the day-to-day work of the county courts: insolvency and companies; landlord and tenant and possession proceedings; harassment; sale of goods and consumer credit. All copies of Blackstone's Civil Practice 2004 come complete with a CD-ROM, which is issued simultaneously with the bound book. The free CD-ROM includes links to references to the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Directions. The CD-ROM also includes all relevant forms.
