The new system of child support introduced by the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act 2000 comes into force in April 2002. This pack has been redesigned to allow practitioners to calculate swiftly and accurately the amount payable under the new rules. The process has four stages: calculation of the non-resident parent's net weekly income; working out whether to apply the basic rate, reduced rate, flat rate or nil rate; application of that rate; and adjustments required where care is shared or there are multiple absent parents. This pack aims to guide practitioners step by step through this process and contains easy-to-complete forms, which may be copied for multiple use, together with explanatory notes.
