This new edition has been substantially updated and revised to provide a thorough account of the principles underlying English administrative law, including an important new chapter on the incorporation of European law and an assessment of the impact of the Human Rights Act of 1998. A clear, accurate, and perceptive statement of the principles of administrative law, "Wade" has become firmly established as the classic textbook in its field.
Sir William Wade has had a distinguished career as an academic and, lately, as a practicing member of the Bar. He was Professor of English Law in the University of Oxford and, from 1976, Rouse Ball Professor of English Law in the University of Cambridge and Master of Gonville and Caius College. He has served with distinction on numerous government enquiries and is still active in advising governments all over the world on matters concerning constitutional and administrative law.
