Kathy Bowrey, Professor, Faculty of Law, UNSW, Sydney. Kathy's research is primarily in the areas of history and philosophy of IP, legal theory, copyright and new media, information technology law and the intersection of western legal categories and indigenous cultural and intellectual property rights. Michael Handler, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Law, University of NSW, Sydney. Michael is the co-author of Australian Trade Mark Law (Oxford University Press, 2010). His research focuses on national and international aspects of trade mark law and the law of geographical indications, as well as consumer protection and international trade law. Dianne Nicol, Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Tasmania, Hobart. Dianne's research is primarily in the area of patenting of new technologies, particularly biotechnology. She is interested in the legal issues associated with patentability, ownership and use of inventions, including collaborative and compulsory licensing. Her research also covers the social and ethical issues associated with the commercialisation of science.
