Jerold Manuel is an academician and researcher in the field of biochemical Engineering. Currently, he is serving as Assistant Professor in Department of Biotechnology at NIT Warangal. His research interest includes biorefineries, waste valorisation, and Biomaterials. He has embarked his research potential for the clean and green environment. He is recipient of "IEI Young Engineers Award” by Institution of Engineers (India) for the year 2020-21 in Environmental Engineering discipline. He has received various sponsored projects worth of 80 Lakhs from several funding agencies. He has been awarded with Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran fellowship for his postgraduate education and MoE Fellowship by Government of India for his Doctoral studies. In addition, he has been honoured with gold medals for his higher academic credentials by the Karunya University during his higher studies. In addition to his research, he is involved in teaching for B.Tech. and M.Tech. students. He has handled various subjects related to Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering. He has published 32 research and review papers at International and National peer reviewed Journals. In addition, Jerold has authored six Book chapters in reputed book publishers. He has many guided B.Tech. and M.Tech. students for their dissertation work. He is currently guiding three doctoral students. To his credit he has edited three books which are published in CRC Press, Taylor and Francis Group and Springer Nature. He is a reviewer for various peer reviewed Journals at international and national level. He is life member of Biotech research society of India (BRSI), International Society for Technical Education (ISTE), India, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) and IEI Institution of Engineers (India). Ramani Kandasamy is a Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, Chennai, India, and holds 20 years of extensive academic, research and industrial collaborative experience. She received her Ph.D. in Microbiology-Environmental Technology from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI), Chennai, where she specialized in Microbiology-driven environmental solutions. Her research is centred on developing sustainable, eco-efficient biotechnological strategies for industrial solid and liquid waste management including the bioremediation of emerging pollutants from petrochemical industries, refineries, leather processing and municipal waste sectors. She has significantly contributed to advancing microbial fermentation technologies for the conversion of industrial wastes into high value-added biomolecules such as biosurfactants, industrial enzymes, and biocatalysts. Her research work also spans strain improvement technologies, biosurfactant-assisted hydrocarbon remediation, production of magnetic nanoparticles through green synthesis and surface-functionalized carrier materials for enhanced pollutant removal. Her research extends to the remediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils and process development for the treatment of toxic landfill leachates enabling resource recovery within circular bioeconomy frameworks. She has successfully executed multiple government- and industry-funded research projects and has authored numerous articles in international high-impact journals, conference proceedings and edited volumes. Her strong commitment to translational research has led to active collaborations with industrial partners for pilot-scale demonstration of eco-efficient solutions. She serves as research mentor to postgraduate and doctoral researchers facilitating multidisciplinary innovations aligned with sustainable development priorities. She continues to contribute immensely to the real-field through her research outreach, scientific evaluations and technology transfer activities aimed at achieving scalable environmental remediation technologies. She has published 65 research papers in the peer reviewed international journals and authored 8 book chapters in the reputed Publishers. She is the recipient of Tamil Nadu Women Scientist Award from the Department of Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. She is the member of Association of Microbiologists in India (AMI), International Water Association (IWA).
