This book provides a comprehensive and forward-looking analysis of the Niger Delta - its geography, natural wealth, environmental challenges, and sustainable future. It traces the region s geography, climate, and indigenous history, highlighting the lasting impacts of colonialism and intensive resource extraction. The Delta s rich reserves of oil, gas, fisheries, and forests are examined alongside critical issues of pollution, deforestation, and climate change, as well as governance, resource control, and conservation efforts. Further chapters explore pollution and remediation - addressing oil spills, soil and water contamination, and the role of nanotechnology, biotechnology, and community-driven restoration. The final section looks ahead, presenting innovative strategies for sustainable management, including smart delta technologies, AI, GIS, and microbial remediation. Balancing scientific insight with policy relevance, this book is essential reading for researchers, policymakers, and anyone concerned with the Niger Delta s environmental and economic resilience.

Adejoke Blessing Aransiola, received her B.Tech (2010-2015) and M.Tech (2018-2023) from the School of Environmental Technology, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, Nigeria at the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics. Currently, Adejoke is a Ph.D candidate in the same institution and her research is focused on Environmental sustainability by observing climate change through monitoring of heat waves as it affects Agricultural produce in the North central Nigeria. She is a Registered Surveyor under the Surveyors Council of Nigeria and a member of the Nigerian institution of Surveyors. Served as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and currently a lecturer in the University of Abuja in the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics. She has published articles in reputable journal including conference preceding and co-edited a book titled Prospects for Soil Regeneration and its Impact on Environmental Protection (Springer).  Also, she is an expert of Geographic Information System (GIS).

Saheed Ibrahim Musa is a lecturer and researcher with a strong background in environmental remediation using molecular biology and biotechnological principles. He holds a B.Sc. in Biology, M.Sc. Cell Biology and Genetics (Ecogenotoxicology) from University of Lagos with Distinction and a PhD. in Environmental Biotechnology from University of Benin, Benin City. He is a recipient of multiple grants, including the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) award FSB/NA2020/1243), (PG/16/213) and a Petroleum Trust Fund (PTDF) scholarship award (PTDF/E/LSS/PG/ACI/Vol.12/96). He also specializes in data analysis and research design. He has authored over 50 publications and presented at numerous conferences. Recently, he was featured among the finalists of the TETFund Fair 2024 and also among the top 10 reviewers for Publons in 2024 https://loop.frontiersin.org/people/217/publons). Musa currently serves as a lecturer at Admiralty University of Nigeria.

Sesan Abiodun Aransiola is a notable Ph.D holder in Environmental Microbiology in the Department of Microbiology, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. He obtained his first degree (B.Tech) and Master Degree (M.Tech) from the same Department in 2009 and 2014 respectively.  He has demonstrated his research expert in the production of vermicasts from vermicoposting (Vermitechnology) of organic wastes to assist plants in the remediation of polluted soil with heavy metals. Currently, he is a Lecturer at the Department of Microbiology, University of Abuja, Nigeria. his expertise spans environmental health, phytoremediation, vermicomposting, marine resources and bioremediation of pollutants soil including plastics. Aransiola's research is deeply rooted in innovative solutions for soil and water remediation, with significant contributions to microbial biotechnology and waste management. He is an award-winning researcher and has over 90 publications including book chapters, research and review articles of good international repute with high impact factor. He has co-edited scientific books of global interest which include microbial biotechnology for bioenergy (Elsevier). Ecological interplays in microbial enzymology, prospects for soil regeneration and its impact on environmental protection, Soil microbiome in green technology sustainability, marine bioprospecting for sustainable blue-bioeconomy (Springer). Microbial biofilms  - applications and control, marine greens: environmental, agricultural, industrial and biomedical applications, Emerging Contaminants in Food and Food Products, Phytoremediation in Food Safety: Risks and P
