Developed using Macromedia Flash, Simbryo consists of nine original vector art animation modules of embryologic system development: early development, cardiovascular, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, head and neck, limb, and how spina bifida and heart defects develop. A developmental clock is shown in the upper right hand comer to depict the time frame of each animated process. Large, high-quality animations allow the user to navigate by pausing, slowing the speed, moving backward, moving frame by frame, and zooming. The CD-ROM includes both lecture (instructor) mode, made for in class presentations, and full (student) mode, complete with pop-up text boxes that narrate what is going on in the animation.
